How to become a northern california firefighter?

im turning 18 next month and i am looking into how to become a fireman. i live in sacramento california and cannot seem to figure out the requirements, or how to go about becoming a firefighter. i know there are fire academies in northern california but just don't know how to go about getting into them. any information would be much appritcated.
