Packet sniffer detection?

My roommate controls the wireless router for our cable connection. How can I tell if there is a packet sniffer on the router? If it is physical hardware, would I see it on the router? If it is software, how can I tell? He has no access to my computer, nor do I his. Will any information I send via router be sniffable by him?
